Overview
TOYOTA · 4D VR EXPERIENCE
ImpossibleQuest
Art, technology, and cinematic storytelling inside the Prius Prime.

A 4D virtual-reality installation that transformed a parked Prius Prime into a vehicle for the imagination.
Toyota invited audiences to step beyond a conventional product demonstration and enter a cinematic world shaped by their own movement and choices.
The experience brought together physical effects, immersive technology, and the visual imagination of legendary futurist Syd Mead.
Experience
4D installation
The car became both cockpit and storytelling device.
Inside the installation, wind, vibration, and environmental shifts extended the virtual world into the physical cabin.
The project debuted at TechCrunch Disrupt, where visitors could experience a technology story through their whole body rather than a conventional feature list.

The Prius Prime was not placed beside the story. It became the portal into it.
World building
World building
A future imagined with Syd Mead, then made responsive around the guest.
Mead's work on films including Blade Runner, Tron, and Aliens made him a natural collaborator for a story about mobility and speculative futures.
Sketches, environmental studies, and the final Toyo Tunnel sequence gave the experience a visual language that felt authored rather than assembled from technology demos.

Continuation
Digital continuation
Carry the personalized journey beyond the installation.
A companion digital platform extended the experience after the headset came off, connecting the guest's individual journey to richer Prius Prime information.
The result created a clear path from wonder to product understanding without collapsing the experience into a conventional sales page.
